My mind feels so ill, a couple dozen died
Portugal suffered a bad mudslide
The disaster came without warning
Now the whole country is in mourning

Reaching a pact and taking peace higher
The prez of Sudan signed a ceasefire
Yes! And now their government will hire
Rebel groups from Darfur, so they could share power

Young Americans were first backing Obama
Some are backing  off, they think he lacks promise
30 and under are stressed and depressed
By the slow movement. Recession’s upsetting

In education news, the prez is suggesting
More quality in our subjects and testing
A whole teaching staff in Rhode Island
Got canned fighting over the extra mile,

I got my eye-on the high school spying
Could it be true? Big brother’s watching you?
A school is getting sued by a student who said, “dang,
Is the school spying on me with my webcam?”

A texas man, complaing about taxes
Hopped in a plane and crashed it
Into an IRS building for that reason
So ironic, (why?) this is tax season

Plus we have new credit card laws
To save Americans from setbacks and losses
And in NY, teenagers can’t drive
With more than 1 friend at a time

Now that the Winter Olympics are underway
I wonder / how many medals the US will runaway with
